You’re Not Worth It

Poetry.

In your eyes,

I see

you’re not worth it.

I’m not like other girls

whose faces make you surrender

whose voices soak your underwear.

who become everything to you

by doing nothing at all.

In your eyes,

I see

you’re just like other men

because it’s not to give and to be accepted that you want

you’re looking for what they’ve been telling you to look for

a trophy wife, a picket fence, and everyone’s approval

especially other men’s.

So then,

since their approval means the world to you,

put rings to these men’s fingers

and leave women alone,

even those whose faces make you surrender

as they too don’t deserve men who

are with them for their own egos

instead of their hearts.
