Why Some of Us Don’t Belong

Yet another poem.

Some of us will never belong anywhere

but maybe that’s because our hearts beat for everyone

even those we’ve never met and even

those who cannot see us even on bright sunny days. Or

maybe that’s because our eyes always look up to the sky

in search of a wild goose of a card

to drop us new meanings or

take us up and away at last.

But most of all

maybe it’s because we believe in the power of sunsets to

dissolve ‘mild’ apprehensions, that we keep shuffling along

to the real heat of a hell that lives inside us, until we become too hot

for anyone to take.
